Whispers

The simple changes in the tide

The ebb and flow of tides inside

The whitewash of the rolling waves

Which cleanse our souls and hearts and minds.

The swooping silent summer breeze

The combing of the grass and trees

The sweet massaging of our skins

As we kneel, in love, upon our knees.

The growing of the red-rose-flower

The silken petals in the morning-dew-shower

The sweetest scent, with burning thorns

To demonstrate to us Love’s power.

The growling, groaning summer storm

The demons that the shadows form

The lightning flashing flames in fury there

But here we’re safe and warm.

The sinking of the sun on land

The whispers of the sea on sand

The hopes and fears and dreams and things, forgotten

As I listen and hold your hand.
