What My Gold Gets
By Daahaf Hewalk
I'm a son of the patriarchy world
Who loves to taint with my gold
In the sun it melts, well, not odd
However, not in the right amount to pour onto my faults
To teach what evil these have called
But darker and darker as it melts
This is what my gold gets
I'm a daughter of the quirky world
Who loves to paint with my gold
In the moon it shines, shows me my face
But if I see my eyes, I can't see my lips
Funny how a bit of it hangs from my dress
I can almost replace it with the oceanside sunsets
But brighter and brighter as it melts
This is what my gold gets
I'm a person of the world
With a dream of living free when I get old
Looks gold from the life that I have on the roll
And with a desire of having a farm in Paris
Dropped a golden amulet from a boat in Venice
Told someone for what I get envied
That lighter and lighter as time passes
This is what my gold gets
I'd just be a body
Floating in the blue sea
