What I Teach My Little Son?
By Stephen Deepak
In the mornings I carry my Roly- Poly Cuddly, all of seven months, old with his curly hair and sparkling eyes and smile of pure adore. In small strides I walk him up, singing and swinging a lullaby, He hangs in my arms, clutching me dear, shooting his sight, a little here and a little there.
With his curious little watchful eyes, he scans the world around, Observing keenly, little details on a leaf or a lovely flower. Listens intently to the humming birds, nestled up on the tree, Swiftly turning his head around, to a zooming bike or a noisy breeze.
I take him to the backyard, to show him the rising sun, Must he know it's there for him, lest he go looking to Bahamas or Balis I show him the mango and coconut trees, he watches them in fascination, I teach him son, it's all around, not in Miami or in the Windies.
He sees the cows that stray on roads, I count them one by one, I teach him son, more compassion, be aware, to care for the weaker one. Cats and Dogs, that lug along, smearing their heads, with added love, I teach him son, little things in life, be grateful to God our creator.
I lift him up and show the sky, the romance of the blue and white, I teach him son, its not on a sandy beach, that you get to see the sky. Moonlit Night in twinkling spread, the stars, out there in delight, I teach him son, raise your hands, and praise, the joy of this beautiful world.
