Wedding Dream
By Gauri
They were discussing about my age and how am I getting older,
Sooner it's a time for me to get married, somebody commented, as I got an announcer.
So,I needed to prepare myself for the future,
Never did i feel ready for this transition.
I still decided to give it a little thought,
Wondering, without you, how would my life be, if I tie this knot!
I see the wedding day has come,
Lighting lamps, a lot of cooked food, so many presents packed, too many relatives, a joy of happiness on everyone's face.
But the bride was missing the glow of her wedding, so I'd applied a brush of blush, that hided my sorrow little less.
Somehow, with those heavy legs and super stoned heart, i would walk the aisle,
Second by second my eyes would search for you in the bunch of these known-unknown mess.
You've always said that, humans do compare themselves,
My mind was Just not in the mood to do so with the groom that was present.
The day has passed with a plastic smile on my face throughout,
Having everyone there but not you left a hole in my heart all the way around.
Every moment on that day was heavier for me,
I was so used to with your ease of doing things that kept on knocking till the evening.
I finally moved to a mew house with all the tiring rituals, realising there are some major one's still left to happen.
I was definitely going to burst when i was thinking, that the wedding night has arrived,
How would I be loyal to this new person who might be a pure soul.
Me leaving myself in a grief of your memory as he unties hid clothes, to lead towards a final goal.
He came closer and touched my hand,
There was no electric spark and I failed to respond.
He touched my face and leaned his lips over mine,
Another part of me shattered as it felt like somebody just broke my spine.
No no, no, this isn't done, I was not ready for anything I screamed.
He was confused for a second but continued with his activities whispering in my ears, "Happy Married life wifey", you'll survive the pain!
