Wealth's Wounds
By Agrima Bajpai
The money I dreamt for came by my side,
But came with it also a plethora of perturbations.
Can get everything for which I once cried,
But still feel I'm living in a world of suffocations.
The crackle of toffees and chocolates in the treasury,
Replaced by fluttering folds of fragile finances.
Disprin, Calpol, balms' the new therapy,
Stress, anxiety, depressions' the new romances.
Poverty amidst plenty of affectionate relations,
Only honeyed deceits flattering round the corner.
Duties to fulfil all the obligations,
With the soul completely becoming just a mourner.
The money definitely comes,
But at the cost of peace of mind,
Lonely is only what a person becomes
When he turns blatantly blind.
