We Changed...

Updated: Aug 28

By Mandeep Kaur

Mirthful laughter mingled with droplets of passion

Where spirits were unbound with tempest's fashion

Splashing in puddles and chasing paper boats in rain

And carrying the dreams without any strain

As the world changed , so did we

The hearts weights heavy and souls without grace

Love's turmoil reigns in the modern age

Where body is bartered in the market's stage

The waves crash around us, ominous and real

For our dreams and illustrations, now we must conceal

From the salty sea sprays to the sound of thunder

The hearts filled with voids with nothing to wonder

Money has reduced brotherhood to mere trade

Life itself is now on the market, it's not a charade

Nowadays, a touch on a mobile screen,

And our signatures, existence are pawned away.

The tongue so skilled in sweetened lies

But truth, so bitter, our tongue denies.

Where we people with rotten hearts

Crave for the blood of others , a bright red

What else we have weaved together

Other then, Demons , Ghost and Heaven

We paint someone with the darkest colors

And still wonders our sky to be a rainbow.

Oh, how we long for those simpler times

When the only thing that mattered was the rhythm of rhymes

When our wrong lyrics made the music fine

And paper boats could take us to the end of the line.

Yet, with each crashing minute , we discover a new way

To fight , to win, to conquer in every sway

To ride the turbulent water with our strength and might

And fill our souls with hopes renewed and bright.
