We Cannot Be

You and I together, is what we cannot be

Our worlds are far apart and different can't you see??

We argue, we cry, we fight and belittle each other

If that is what's in store for us, with pretenses why bother?

My day is night for you on the other end

With you, I feel on edge and ready to defend.

The bond we share is yet so strong and steady

To wipe your tears and make you smile, I am ready.

But don't take away my life and my freedom of choice,

I too am alive and have a right to voice

Accept me as I am, just don't break me

You and I together is what we cannot be.
