We Arise With An Undaunted Spirit
By Desiree Marisa Fernandes
As the world reels in dire crises
We are forced to deal with a slew of demises.
Were man made calamities not enough of a catastrophe
Marked with protests, vendetta et al to mope.
The bewitching works of human hands
Can’t seem to suffice to make amends.
Would plunging into the recesses of our soul
Deem our spirits worthy of entering into Sheol ?
As ardent devotees we journey along and sacrifice
Reaching out to others while alongside paying the price.
The constraints of the pandemic sparing no caste, class or human
Confined us to our homes and engaged us in spiritual communion.
With enthrone ourselves to God, with open palms
In quiet sanctity and outstretched arms.
With bated breath and scurried thoughts
We pray to God seeking not his wrath.
So we petition our cause for the many lives lost
And to arrest our human sensibilities ain’t spreading at any cost
Let’s rekindle our hearts and ignite hope in the other
By fiercely guarding our flames, making no blunder.
