Wasted!

The tap’s running,

Water is dripping out,

Plunking against the metal sink.

The once silver sink,

now filled with copper rings,

where the water drips.

Plink, plink, plink…

As each drop falls,

a new line forms.

A new circle appears.

The old green expands.

And with each passing second,

A second is wasted.

With each passing minute,

A minute is wasted.

The water is wasted.

As it collects in the copper rings,

and slinks down the drain-

Wasted.

With each new drop,

a sensation is wasted.

Each new drop

Could’ve been in an ocean-

glistening feverishly

with a kind of propitious nature.

Could’ve been in a river-

rapids rousing in the drop

a want for hedonism.

It could’ve even been in a pond-

water lilies stirring in it

an adoration for beauty.

What a waste it all is!
