Wandering Through The Wounds
By Lida Thomas
I'm not mistaken;
I'm wandering through the woods
The woods of wounds
Wandering through the wounds of my life.
The woods are so dark and deep
Thick and sharp
No light, no wind, no rain, but pain
Piercing straight towards the heart
Breaking the soul into countless pieces.
Committed many mistakes
Cheated by closest
Abandoned by dear ones
Blamed by beloveds
Seen the scattered pieces of my own reflection.
Crawled under the claws of Pain
The pain of loss and despair
I have been lost into the woods
The woods of wounds where
My twinkling stars faded into scary scars.
Wandered for so long alone
Became a stranger even to the shadow
Seen dead leaves beneath my feet
And new ones above my face
Stood between life and death- I said:
"May be I have been lost
Does not mean my entire life is a mistake,
It's not too late to rewrite the story,
There is always a second chance-
To rebuild, to restore and to restart."
The sound reverberated
The woods of wounds
Turned into the woods of womb
Where I found myself again
Ready to start once again.
