Voice Of My Heart
By Jafreena Sadique
When the whole world sleeps
A tiny voice speaks
Are you asleep my little one?
In the land of ponies and dragons
With the thumbing so loud
Making one aware that you are alive
The lub-dub in a pace
You understand
But in fright or pleasure
You race like a horse
To win the battle of love
Neither did I understand
Your pace
Nor did I get to know you well
For you were with me
Beating all the while
To keep me alive and running
Size of a fist is what anatomists say
When you are dissected
You speak a language of love
But the four rooms are not enough
For the love you store for the world,
Is more than these walls could accommodate
Pumping blood is your job is what the doctors say
But you are more than that
For you make the world seem better
Making cheeks blush red
With the lovely words you utter
Melting others in letters you mutter
You proved that size doesn’t matter
For a small one like you
Is as important to keep me breathing and alive
Are you the maiden who weaves those words?
The lub-dub that is a lullaby
As I wander looking lost
You bring me close and make sure that I am fine
Are you the angel who brought me back?
For you are the embodiment of love
The love I feel in my little chamber
Is more that I can express
Who are you?
I wonder
When can I meet you?
To say that all the emotions I have felt
All the loud lub-dubs
All the furious lub-dubs
All the soft lub-dubs
You enlightened me
You showed me a path
A path paved of gold
You guided me...
