Voice beneath the ruins

The room is silent,

yet my mind still screams.

Every corner of these walls

holds memories I cannot speak.

I scrub my hands again and again,

as though the water could wash away the night,

as though the skin that carries the scars

could somehow forget the fight.

The mirror watches softly,

but I turn my eyes aside

for the girl I once remembered

no longer seems to reside.

My thoughts walk barefoot on shattered glass,

each memory slicing deep.

The world outside keeps spinning,

while inside I quietly weep.

They will ask what I was wearing,

where I went, why I stayed

questions that deepen the wound

of a pain I never made.

Yet beneath the weight of sorrow,

beneath every shaking breath,

a fragile whisper rises:

You lived through something close to death.

I am not the hands that harmed me,

nor the darkness of that night.

I am the breath that still rises

after surviving the fight.

Though my heart feels heavy

and the path ahead seems long,

one day these broken fragments

will remember they belong.

For even in the darkest night

when hope feels far above,

a wounded soul can still rediscover

the quiet power of love.
