View From The Lookout

A humid, windy, sultry sort of day

Any excuse really, to be at the beach, the beautiful bay

Waves crashing against the shore

A boogie board goes flying,

The owner paddles out for more

Sand castles built, then abruptly swept away

A common occurrence at the beach, nearly everyday

The footprints in the sand

A jogger. A walker. A couple side by side, hand in hand

Children with their parents, cooling off their feet

An ice cream in their hands, oh what a treat

A lifeguard on duty, always watching, always alert

Hard to miss really in that bright coloured shirt

After several hours it’s pack up time

The retreat to the car begins

Sand between the toes,

And there’s one sure thing

They’re all coming back tomorrow and

That’s something everyone knows.
