Verisimilitude

No matter how much I doll up

My shadow will always be dark

No matter how much I do up my hair with clips and bows

It won't brighten up my heart

In a room filled with fake smiles and fake laughs

With everyone trying to keep up, trying to have some class

To the boys, 'man up' they say

To the girls, 'be a lady' they say

Let's keep up an appearance

Let's not ruin our reputation

Let's wear a happy smile

And tell everyone we're fine

If I'm sad you'll never know

Cause I'm great at putting on a show

Never been a theatre kid

But life taught me to act a bit

We look at each other through a lens of la vie

en rose

Each of us has walls up cause we don't want each other to know

That our world is disdain and it's colours are fading

The shades of us are dull and pale

Everyday life seems so stale

Hidden dystopia, but is it really hidden?

In our own lives we seem to be the villain
