Venom

By Vyshnavi Mohan

Amidst a gathering where people met,

Even stonefish withdrew, so shy,

Venom in their speech and souls

Spreading their toxins far and wide

Unabashed, unashamed, they spoke

Celebrating ignorance as a virtue

Unmindful of being in a house of death

And she being there, heart-broken

All they wanted were to command,

Just to blame for naught and all

To gossip, devour and then depart

Alas! What a pity senseless souls!

Caring not the state of affairs

They kept on asking wedlock date

No matter whether she’d heal

From the darkest grief she does deal

I just don't get it what they get

Why do they pry into others’ lives?

Like how eager they do care for her

More than they do for their own home

Let her live free or let her wed

Let her do job or let her soar

Oh, you people! How are you affected?

Just live your life, minding your own
