Unwillingness To Surrender

Updated: Jun 10, 2023

Amidst the innumerable daily trials and trivial angst,

Amidst the missed chances, as fate plays its pranks,

Amidst the constant noise saying, retreat, do not advance,

Amidst the chaos that surrounds me, leaving me in a trance,

Amidst the crumbling world, defeated inside a thousand times,

Detached from reality, I stand with incapacitated, trembling hands.

What can I do? I am just an ordinary man,

Vexing questions about my identity began.

Every thought rhymed rigorously as I ran,

Every time I raised my head, at every turn, the voices sang,

Give up, give up; let go of the idea “that I can”,

Surrender and let the vortex end your abysmal lifespan.

I did what the voice asked me to do,

I did surrender, relaxing my every sinew.

Surrender I did to the situation I hardly knew,

Never resisted; my will to fight, which I shall renew.

Let the world crumble; let the noise mumble,

Broken in parts, shattered, but I won’t dwindle.

To hope I hold on, to reassess and reassemble,

Quashing the inner doubts, stopping the hands that tremble.

To fall isn’t unnatural to everyone who walks,

To begin when lost is the true essence of adventure calls.

One who endures the trauma proudly displays his scars,

To fight is to shine brightly amidst vast darkness like stars.

Every defeat is an opportunity to redeem, to evolve,

Willingness to fight is the birth-right around which every life revolves.

Surrender thy vices, silence the voices, the stifling dissent that undermines,

Releasing the mind from its clutches of vicious repressive cycles,

Break free of worldly woes, trouncing the tragedies to rediscover and recycle.

Break free of worldly woes, trouncing the tragedies to deliver a charismatic revival.
