Unrequited
By Shreya Sharma
I can smoothly lie,
But you were my paradise.
In your eyes, you’re holding mine,
Saying how everything will be fine.
You tell me honestly,
I’m still your eternal fantasy.
It’s all fake, fake is all.
For you I cannot afford to fall.
You ripped me, I am still dripping.
No, stitches don’t fit in.
We both backed away,
But were still not far away
Not enough to not fall again.
Can I endure the heavenly pain?
A house of cards that fell apart,
Was nothing less than art.
We kept the bond taut,
Did not give a thought.
Day in and out our silence fought,
For we couldn’t talk.
You could have been my beginning and end,
Contended me, you didn’t pretend.
I swore not to lay eyes on you,
While you burnt me with your gaze deep inside my soul.
No, not anymore.
Stay a little longer even if it hurts,
I would gladly remain sore.
You know that I can’t show you me,
The ruined monstrous masked me.
Blooming in a garden of light a flower that resembles you,
And I still long for you.
Foolish me who changed for you.
I lived so I loved,
Which was a black feathered dove.
