Unplanned Visits

My heart hadn't responded to my messages for a while, so I decided to go check on it I know it's busy mending roads, writing lists, organising photo albums and looking for more band-aids but it could take outa time for an old friend So I slipped into town and saw the broken roads that started it throughout I saw my heart and my brain arguing over construction contracts while the hands of time sneakily mended the roads piece by piece I decided to take a trip in the meantime I followed the breadcrumbs I'd left for myself a while back and entered a theatre that was playing my memories on loop, most embarrassing ones first of course, and some I thought I'd deleted but apparently, my heart hadn't gotten that memo I grabbed a bucket of popcorn, watched for a while and then went to the garden I'd planted a while back Shed and unshed tears had been watering that garden for a while and it had bloomed quite well I walked for a while and reached my final destination z my childhood room where monsters were my friends and hopes and dreams hid in my toy basket Beyond that room lay possibilities and that's where I found my heart sitting on a bench looking on at the emptiness We sat, enjoying each other's company for a while and the silence of what could be and letting go of what was
