Ultramarine

I come from a place of plastic and bottles

We don’t know how it happened, but perhaps we lost a battle

Between land and sea

So hear our plea

I come from a place which grows bigger each day

“It’s all because of ‘global warming’ ,” they say

All the glaciers that are melting

Make life here very unsettling

I come from a place which was once blooming with corals

But the water here proves that they are not immortal

Now, you can only find debris

Because they chose not to see

I plead with fins

For them to at least use a bin

Or soon, there will be nothing left to see

Not a reef, not a coral

Not even me
