Too Far

Shouldn't we be healing

From the wounds that our past inflicted?

When our ancestors fought for materialism

Thoughts never fully shared, just conflicted.

Why are we crushing ourselves again

Despite the great lessons that we are thought?

Why do we still have wars

Over race, gender, religion? Never truly knowing the lives lost.

Would we cry over these souls

Knowing the damage that we caused?

Or pretend to be oblivious

Of their pain and torture of all sorts?

Will we ever learn to embrace

The true extent of humanity?

Or simply wander into chaos

Too far, drowned in insanity?
