To The Girl Within Me

To the girl within me,

whose insecurities run deep,

who thinks she’s not worth anything,

whose worries don’t let her sleep,

I want you to know

that you mean the most to me.

You got me through so many dark times

when even the light was hard to see.

You did what you could for me

with everything that you knew,

and now you know much better

yet it’s still hard to get through

similar dark and daunting alleys

like before, and that is okay,

because you don’t have to get it right

all at once or in one day.

I’m glad you’re with me

and for all that you are,

because I know that without you

I wouldn’t have made it so far.

Thank you for pushing through

even when you wanted to quit,

and I’m here to always embrace you

whenever you need it.
