To The Girl I Adore
By Neha Basumatary
I woke up this morning
To the sound of door bell,
Illusioning her at the doorstep
Ideal as in the portrait;
Trembling with trauma i realised
The wait prevails a year old.
The retention diluted with time;
The separation has illuminated
The withering of the bosom.
Little Flower marked the dawn
Both swung to the same rhythm,
Celebrating the whirl of friendship;
The white lilacs lilted with glide
To the cheer of new chapter.
Destiny paid the favour
Back in Bongaigaon Refinery School.
The bizarre set all
As the talk of town,
Losing bit of patience,
Carefree of our menaces
Euphoria set the core.
Laughing, creating jokes, mockery
A way to solace.
Tiffin through escapes
On the first class of the day;
Hiding while trying to bunk classes
Still got caught anyway.
Cycling towards Dhaligaon market
Savoring chowmein, paratha, samosa and sweets,
Till stomach had no space
For the home made foods.
Riding scooty to circulate
The residence of teachers,
Riding through the veiled paths
Against the onrush of winds,
Challenging the flight of birds
And listening to the voice of nature
So unfamiliar until then.
I yearn her presence,
Surabhi, a name so soothing
Like a bird beyond reach.
