To My Love

Had a life full of battles, some outer, mostly inner

Tears soothed my burning heart, I cried, I let it simmer

Time passed, but didn't heal

I learnt to cope, suppress and conceal

Found a way to shield myself from the gloom

How will people hurt me if I lock myself up in my room

So, I did just that. Lived life in the hiding

Followed a routine, eliminated the exciting

In you came like the first drop of rain,

At first glance I knew you were meant to break the chain

Bright and joyful with a disgustingly sweet smile

My exact opposite, your mere existence felt hostile

Hesitant yet couldn't pull away, a voice in my head advised me to stay

Fighting the urges, the fears and the doubts,

I held your hand as you showed me the world around

You put the soul into my dull life; "One day I'll make you my wife"

We couldn't have been more flawless. Everything made sense when we were “Us”

With every passing second, I adored you more

But unknown to me, you had started off to the door

Maybe it was my heart, maybe it was my mind

Something worth enough for you to leave us behind

I bellowed, I cried, in front of you and alone

Please don't leave me, dear... How will I survive on my own?

So, everything they had said was in fact really true

I was worthless and unlovable, all their words construed

Your gifted me back to my demons again

You left me back here, now without the power to refrain

Took me to the highest of the clouds

Prepared me for my fall, steep and loud

My favourite person, in you I had found my true love

For you I changed my life around but I guess it still wasn't enough

Sometimes I wish that you could have cheated instead

At least I could hold a grudge and leave you for dead

I sit not knowing what to do with all the love I have for you

I try to keep myself sane, throwing myself into habits old and new

Seems like you will have no trouble in getting over me

Wish I could do the same and set the thoughts free

But now I live for the sake of it

I breath, I feel, for the name of it
