TO COLOUR YOUR HEART RED AGAIN.
Profound emotion of deep affection,
Like a soft embrace, swaddled with care,
Two hearts melting into one another.
She saw it there- the beauty of love.
She had always been the perfect daughter,
Her parents’ pride,
And everything above,
Until she became another’s dove.
Like the missing piece of a puzzle in her dishevelled ride,
Like soft raindrops amongst the purple daisies,
Like the radiance of stars around the moon
He was the calmness to her chaos.
Yet, even when love was allured,
She never seemed to rest assured.
Thoughts rambling like thunderous nights:
“He could have found someone better.
Sit for hours and write love letters
To someone who actually deserved him.”
She perfected her smile,
So none suspected her late-night wail.
Shadows lurked in the corner,
Her chest tightening.
She believed herself to be the loner.
With every passing day, she was losing herself,
Pretending to be someone she’s not,
Faking smiles, acting fine,
Pretending to be the ‘perfect daughter,’
Never crossing the line.
She’s full.
She’s full of love,
Of pretense,
Of fear,
Of all the things she doesn’t wish to be.
All she wants is for someone to see,
To comprehend through her soul,
To look at her heart, wrenching, shattering into pieces,
To take them back, fix it, fix her.
She’s tired. Tired of trying to be okay when she’s not.
But she, certainly, is unaware of a writer’s love.
For a writer would use black ink to color your heart red again,
And provide you with a company that fathoms you,
Like the key that unlocks a garden of tulips on a warm spring breeze.
For a writer’s love is, indeed, never-ending.
