Tired!

My hair is grey, my soul is weary,

My feet, they drag upon the floor.

A life of suffering, a life of pain,

Beaten down again and again.

These chains, they hold me.

I struggle and fight.

I cry, I scream

With all my might.

What did I do? What is my sin?

Why this harsh punishment?

Again and again!

Answer me! Tell me! I need to know.

I’m tired, I’m weary, I want to let go!

I’ve tried to be faithful, I’ve tried to be good.

I’ve faced all my battles, alone I’ve stood.

But yet you fell me, again and again.

Am I not worthy? When do I mend?

I’m old, I’m grey, I’m tired, I’m worn.

How much more can I take? Why was I born?

My body feels aged all the time,

And yet, I’m only forty-nine!
