The warmth spreading in them

Beautiful soul you are and were

Remember when we were partners in crime

The trouble makers of the group

Tears prick my eyes

As you sway away from my touch

The smile that once bloomed seeing me

Turned to frown that etched deep.

It hurts, so badly

Can’t help it now, can we?

You used to lighten up my dull mood

Now you no longer have time to care

You stiffen up around me, shift uncomfortably

I’ve got no choice but watch you from afar

What did I do to deserve it

I’m your friend too

But just a long distant one.
