Thy Hills Shall Remain Silent
By Kunal Grover
Five passengers and the car was on gear
The landscapes we crossed were on the rear view mirror
From the moment the car was ignited to when the car was on halt
From the moment when we turned down the radio since when it was up
The five passengers then opened the door
To when they stood their feet on the snow covered road
Each one of us yawned and stretched out our limbs
For what we were about to witness in these snow-cold winds
About to enter the apple garden, we first searched for its gate
In this snow, hard is to search the gate, yet even harder is to walk on the slippery surface
Warmed up in my cloak and wearing firm sport shoes
I was still trembling descending the stairs to the garden
Held the hand of this friend, he walked me down and didn’t refuse
For when I saw this garden with no apples, yet it wasn’t barren
One might think a land without fruits would have been barren, but it wasn’t
Because it takes just a gaze to identify the beauty behind the picture that had been hidden
The steep hills descending symmetrically...
The smell of the dried bark reaching a hundred miles magically...
Each steep covered in snow partially...
Descending down to a well, that might had turned wishes true for many...
A few Frosted flowers to be seen arranged in beauty attractively...
Throwing snowballs on each other joyfully...
And at last capturing the landscape candidly…
(All I know is that…)
Let the hills remain silent
And the winds blow cold
For when this place remains magnificent
In my memories and the tears of joy I hold!
