THE WINDOWS OF THE SOUL

Take a moment to look into my eyes,

and tell me truly what you see inside.

My smile may claim that I am whole,

but it is only a shadow where the pain can hide. I have traveled this world in search of grace,

seeking devotion, but collecting scars;

I am like a guitar that plays a beautiful melody, yet falls silent when a single string is marred. In this landscape, I watch the darkness fall,

where sacred love is traded for simple lust.

The world has spun entirely upside down,

yet if you look into my chest, my intentions are just. My emotions are tightly locked away-

open the gates, and the torrent will pour.

For I am a wanderer who has walked through fires, growing wiser with every closed door.

When I say I love you, look into my gaze;

it holds the truth, stripping away the guise.

All I ask is a fragment of your time,

to intertwine our lives before the sun can rise. Even if a full day is stolen from our reach,

I would surrender hours just to see you smile. It may sound reckless, but my heart knows well that a single breath with you makes the journey worthwhile.

When sadness blankets your face in quiet tears, I will dry your cheeks and hold you in a warm embrace. I see you as a gemstone to be shielded from the storm, which is why I never rush, but keep a steady pace. I am bound to falter, for I am entirely human- perfection belongs to a world we cannot claim. Forgive my missteps with the shelter of a hug, and let my lips quiet the whispers of your pain. I will pour my spirit completely into yours;

promise to tell me if our rhythm ever slows. I swear to choose you with every rising sun, until the final breath inside me goes
