The Whisper

When summer light never finds me,

nor the songs of daffodils and chrysanthemums,

lying in the cold, amidst rough walls, a shut door,

I lay- the untimely born flower...

once a miracle-

now accompanied by Darkness- my faithful companion!

When they glare at me- a flower not daring to bloom,

searching for life left in my pale eyes,

that pity and soi-disant warmth I ignore,

to search for the bitter passion in their glances,

only to unveil a desert of prejudice!

That’s when they throw the pretense away,

to begin the philosophic recital,

“Don’t complain-be grateful.

For pain is a part of life!”

Faded memories of a flower bud,

novel to the world, inexperienced,

living in a fairy tale-a SWEET LIE.

Yet alive I know she is, buried deep in- somewhere.

For when nights never bring me peace, nor sleep,

and when my soul languishes and weeps,

I hear- a ‘whisper’:

“Darkness dies beside a star- but,

what is a star without it by side!”
