The Weekdays

It's a Monday

I feel weird somewhere

Waking up takes quarter of a second

Panic takes the three-fourth

Hauling the bed-sheet to the bathroom

Dragging my legs with hurt in every muscle

Soap and brush and rinse, soap and brush and rinse

Here starts the cycle —

"It's only the first day."

It's a Tuesday, I know

Because I saw the clock ticking

Every second of the minutes

Every minute of the hours

Through the entire night

The hot-bag on me is only a heavy burden now

Sweat is the cap of my forehead and scalp

Pain is the only consistent I know

Inhale-exhale, inhale-exhale, inhale-exhale

"The most brutal day is here."

It's a Wednesday now

I can't tune in to the lectures

I haven't eaten in 4 hours

I move so slow trying not to disturb the monster

And yet it gets disturbed - my belly

My ears are hot from this internal battle

My eyes are too dried up to cry

Maybe I should drink water

"Soon enough, only 2 more days to go."

It's a Thursday today

I've been keeping a note

Dark circles are my new eye shadow

Palms hurt from those dances with soap

Spent last evening escaping into books

And my knees refusing to hold my stand

As I try to continue with the day

Alright, it'll be alright, alright?

"Only a day left.."

It's a Friday, I feel

My body is jammed

I don't feel weird that much

Maybe I've started to heal a little already

The temperature around doesn't feel so hot

I still wish I'd heal faster though

Because my friend keeps pestering for the real reason

behind the Tuesday absence and the lack of notes

And I don't expect it coming when he cries,

"Oh, stop that nonsense period excuse!"
