The Vision of Dawn

I wake up in the morning

When first light hits my lips.

The first thing I do

I look across at you

Inhaling the look

Of sleeping you.

Your hair a mop

Your nude body is strewn.

The smeared makeup

You did not clean up

Makes you look

Like a Halloween mask.

I get out of sheets,

Kiss the spit off your lips

And start the brew

To have it ready for you.

I smile to myself in a very selfish way,

The sight of you,

Drooling and strewn,

Is mine only to see.

The glow of your sleeping beauty.
