The Timeless
By Sanjay G. Singh
From the times of nothing
to something,
and today to everything;
I was here.
Not God,
Ape, Gorrila, or the white clothed Lord.
I am the Rivers of your planet,
have you ever thought Janet;
What would have happened
if I was not here dampened?
I gave you oxygen to breathe,
water to drink and heal.
"Trees had done it" do you ask?
Let me give you a task.
Go dig your favourite tree,
pour the sea water and see;
in a week or three,
you will see it fall underneath.
I have reached its roots,
not for your men who are brutes.
but for the morning flutes,
who wakes the nature of the world.
Little be its stature;
It acknowledged my presence,
and shared with all, my lessons.
Times are gone now when I glittered
without sun, unfiltered.
Today, I lie here littered;
Raped, Garbaged and Rubbished.
The flute bearers never built cottage near me,
nor a bridge over me.
What have you done?
You feel like you have won
building a majestic hut?
Not just that,
you connected your pipes of sewage
in my veins.
I provided when I was in draught,
did I not?
I flowed and remained pious,
even in times of eclipses.
Timely they said;
I rose again millions of times from the dead.
Climate, tsunamis, earthquakes and eclipses
All did I face with love and kisses.
But rising again this time was tough,
the fragmentation I felt today feels enough.
It pains me and makes me want to die,
but I won't, and will lie;
with more spread length,
and shall even flow with more strength,
because I am a mother.
Who will quench the thirst of million other.
But...
After all my service,
I ask thee Janet,
What did I ever do to suffer like this?
