The Ticking Time

Time and tide waits for none,

Is a saying that we have heard since ages

We know it is true… it is evident

But tend to ignore this in all life stages

We postpone things to the next day, to the future

Trying to find a right time to begin

Waking up early; working out; reading a book

Are some habits we find hard to fit in

Lack of time, or a partner, or proper motivation

Are some reasons that we always quote

Making promises to ourselves; taking resolutions

Are the steps that we take on a false note

The days pass by…. Time flies away

As we wait for the right moment to come by

The urge to improve fades away; gets bleak

And slowly creeps in the desire to lie

Lie that we did not get time, or the avenue

To fulfil what our heart had always longed for

Blaming the responsibilities; the busy schedule,

In order to justify our failure to explore

Explore the hours that we wasted in petty things

Unable to respect the ever-changing time

We ignored the ticking clock, the misused minutes

Thus, failing to utilize our days of prime

As we look back to the good old days

A sense of regret creeps in, on the time wasted

We imagine how the situation would have been

The goals unachieved; success that was never tasted
