The Tale Of A True Lovers

Updated: Aug 28

By Shanaya Kacheria

Ravishing Diana and dashing Jack met at an art gallery,

Chitter-chattering with glee.

Bantering about a magnificent art piece,

And its setting in historic Greece.

Their intimacy transposed into love,

They thought making it public was as easy as slipping on a glove.

But Alas! Elegant Diana who was a millionaire,

Was not permitted to marry a musician who played common fanfare.

She was to marry Rafael who lived in the Netherlands,

In a gargantuan bungalow surrounded by majestic mountains.

A calling in music lured Jack away,

But he vowed to return before his love’s wedding day.

Before departing Jack gave his sweetheart a ruby so red,

And Rafael eyed it with dread.

Joined the dots and figured out Diana loved Jack,

Called off the wedding and hit the sack.

Diana held on to the ruby thinking Jack would return,

She grew itchy wrinkles pointing out health concern,

Enveloped loneliness, nursed heartbreak and slept in darkness,

Falling ill and submerged in weakness.

Time set a spine-chilling alarm as days passed,

Diana’s life’s chapter was entering its last,

She died a heart wrenching death that day,

And the ruby turned into shards and turned a mournful grey.

Jack who returned with anxious anticipations,

To see his love and fulfil all her expectations,

Sees the shards and realises she is not alive,

Without her love and affection how will he thrive!
