“Yawn,” said Barren, as he woke up to a sunny morning under the shade of the tall oak tree.

Barren was a Minecraft type bear. He stood on two flat rectangle feet, hands the same and had a square head attached to a rectangular body.

In front of him stood a wall with vines, a shade of olive green, on which he climbed. He climbed out and saw a rectangle dug into the ground full of water. But that wasn't all of it. No, there was a net in between. He dove under the water and came out to the other side.

Then he saw spikes! If you are wondering why the obstacles were there, I'll tell you the secret... he put them there for practice. One week or so after he finished his course, his sister told him that as he already knew there were different animals in different worlds. But what he didn't know, was while he was sleeping, aliens came. I know that sounds funny, but you haven't heard the rest of it. They didn't come to destroy the place, no. They made special candy that poisoned the animals and whoever crossed paths with them would either die out of fear or from the poisonous bites of the animals.

She spoke with a solemn expression. Barren stopped her and said she should go to the connection center. It had a circle computer after a flight of steps. Barren punched the computer and they went inside it! Before he left, his sister told him that the bears weren't affected by the enigmatic candy.

Barren promised her that every Thursday they would meet and save the bears.

Note that the aliens trapped the bears in cages because they were not affected by the candy.

So, back to the present. Barren leaped over the spikes and came outside. There were two shops of the Capileus brothers and on the other side of the river was a bunny rabbit. He sold VR goggles. There was a cliff on which were vines leading to the portal of the snow valley. You know a portal is there because portals are dark blue. So anyway, he left for the connection center. After a few minutes they were standing near the scientist's house.

He said that he had borrowed a magical item called the MYCLOIN, and said that it controlled minds. He told them that he had made a machine that could shrink you. He said that they could shrink down and go inside his house and save the bears stuck inside the home. So, brother and sister stepped into the machine and shrank down.

Once they arrived inside, the first thing they saw was a giant table! “Look at this,” said his sister joyfully. There was a teeny tiny staircase leading to a chair on which was a pile of books they could climb on. When they were on the top, they could see a couch and behind the couch was the counter. A mouse on the table said that if they could get a bottle cap from Rat Town (which was the basement) he would give them a key to free the cute bear on the table.

So they went to Rat town. As soon as they stepped in, rats came charging at them like cannons. They attacked every one of them.

After they got rid of all of them, they looked up to see some shelves leading up to a door. The place was dirty, so they found some cobwebs and climbed them. It was no use.

“Wait” said his sister. “Can you hear that?”

“What,” Barren said.

“Listen,” she put her head to the floor and then Barren heard it too. A hair dryer! It must have slipped through one of the cracks somehow and turned on!

So, up to this part of the story, calling Barren's sister 'his sister' feels weird, so let's just call her Mable, okay?”

“How about we parachute?” asked Mable in an excited tone.

“Wait a minute,” said Barren, “parachutes take you down..... ‘Ah Ah, I understand.” We could put the parachute on one of the cracks and ride a stream of air!”

So they put the parachute on a crack and held on.

“On the count of three We let go of the Splinters we are holding,” said Barren.

“One, two,...THREE!” riding a stream of air was way better than they thought. His sister screamed with joy all the way up, which made it more thrilling. After they reached the door, Mable rushed in and, after a few minutes, she came out and dragged a green bottle cap out.

“I found it,” she said.

So, they freed all the bears, including the table bear and got out of the scientist's home.

A little toddler grabbed Barren's shirt and motioned them to follow him. Once they reached a cave the baby started babbling. Barren looked at James and she nodded and said, the baby is saying that there is a portal which leads to the base, once inside, defeating the alien king and pushing a lever to free all adult bears.

Barren never understood how she did that. Maybe she learned it from somewhere? Anyway, once they were inside they saw a sign. “Maybe this sign only I can read?” though Barren. To his disappointment it was just Bear runes. Everybody knew that. The sign read, ○□♡◇♡■●, which meant, DO NOT enter. At the right side of the sign was a portal. They jumped in, and arrived inside the lair.

They saw some aliens setting a dining table. Barren saw a door.

“Look over there.” Barren said,

“A door!” exclaimed Mable.

“Shhh, oh, sorry,” said Mable.

“Do you think we should go through with it,” whispered Mable.

“Exactly,” said Barren.

They crossed the room and opened the door wide, but made sure to close it. As they turned around they gasped. Along the walls, black and white ribbons cascaded downward and in the center of the room was a giant chessboard.

“Well, I guess we have to play against white,” said Barren happily.

Chess was his favourite game.

“Ok, Barren, let's get started,” said Mable.

“Look, one of the rooks is missing,” said Barren.

“And a knight,” said Mable.

“You go in place of a rook and I'll be a knight” said Barren.

Soon the chess board was a scramble of black and white. It looked like the whites would win, but Barren took the pawn to the end of the board and it became a queen.

Soon they checkmated the king and he threw his crown to Barren.

“Look,” said Mable.

A lever had popped up from the ground.

“Pull it,” said Mable. “I think this is the lever that the baby was talking about.”

“Ok,” said Barren.

When he pulled the lever a countdown began.

“Did I forget to mention that he said the lever also took the spaceship back,” said Mable nervously.

“Back to the portal,” Barren shouted.

They ran to the Door,

3.. slipped away from the aliens,

2.. and teleported back right in time.

Lots of bears greeted them and they had a big party.

When they were going to sleep, Barren realised that adventures were better shared.
