The Sun And The Ocean - A Love Story

By Dharshini Sivabalan

Did he ever stop loving you?

I ask her pointing to the most illuminating light, still gaping at her endless expanse,

She dances seamlessly as he watches her,

I can see him smiling behind all that neon yellow,

His hands long to touch her,

To love her and to be loved back by her,

I want a love like that, I whisper to the quicksand,

The more I stand there letting her gently wash over me,

The deeper I sink in desire,

In desire to love and to be loved back like that,

He makes her glow, she makes him warm,

He’s her twin-flame, she’s his prettiest blue ranunculus,

She even wraps him in her arms as he comes home worn out and orange,

Right after the skies cry upon her, he gives her yellow petals saying that she'll be just fine,

She gives him navy blue butterflies when the drear paints him black,

They breathe in the same orbit and not once do they have to worry about their love dying out,

Not once do they have to be apart,

Because,

Even when he's a still day,

Even when she's a hurricane,

They'll love each other just the same.
