The Stranger

A shimmer of white.

The twinkle in her eye

Light on her feet

My heart skipped a beat

Strangers we were

But only till she smiled

She floated across the dance floor

Beckoning me to join ungluing my two left feet

Her smile incandescent her eyes limpid pools

The rhythm infused me as nearer she drew

Though my heart was echoing the djs beat

She left me breathless barely able to breathe

And then all at once the lights went out

Midnight heralded a new year a new beginning

In that instant of darkness she vanished

Leaving the dancefloor desolate and dark

Even after the lights were turned on

I didn't know her name

But for those few magical moments

She was joy she was inspiration she was melody
