The Station Long Gone

The sudden jerk, the moving platform,

The still heart, now set into motion.

The waiting eye begins it's search;

For the first glimpse beyond foundation.

Through the gravelly, snaking steer

Runs a rhythm obediently offbeat.

The vessel following the anxious ride,

Its contents pushed off the window seat.

The lingering, lagging eye now finds

It rapid; the hastening background, it's pace

And unearths a world entirely new,

Failing to keep up with the chase.

Now comes to halt; the tiring ride,

While the sleepy self drowns in a slumber

And starts afresh, dragging the eye,

Leaving the mind much at the rear.

Now in mind comes the station;

The station that had me so drawn,

The station that I wished to catch a glimpse of,

The station... long gone!
