The Stars Make No Noise
By Chaitra Ramalingegowda
the stars make no noise,
as they shine and sparkle
all night long,
without ado –
come rain, come hail,
they go on – like always;
like faraway flowers
that bloom and blossom,
spreading their fragrance
with nary a complaint –
come spring, come summer,
they bring joy to all;
like butterflies skipping
from bluebells to lilacs,
gathering nectar,
leaving behind smiles
and sunny summer afternoons,
and colors galore;
the stars make no noise
as they go about blinking
in and out of the velvety night sky,
come spring, summer, or winter,
holding on to countless wishes –
making some true,
while others not,
bringing wistfulness to the fore,
as much as happiness –
the stars make no noise…
