The Stars In My Sky
By Sheryn Anand
I shrank so small and turned so weak,
My boat started sinking in the presence of his fleet,
And the slashes he cut on my bare skin,
Bled me out till my reins were his.
But you taught me to rise,
My palm tight against yours,
You somehow find the light,
Through the cracks in the wall.
And it burst into a million flecks of gold,
Floating through the black ceiling tenfold,
And I realised then, you curbed the fire,
It was you who put the stars in my sky.
