The Starless Night

The pendulum oscillates

but the time stands still,

While I keep knocking on those

perpetually closed doors.

The vistas that looked bountiful,

as generous as a mother to her child.

Has unveiled a dissimilar side,

Ominous like a dark forest

studded with glinting eyes.

On this night,

When the sky is starless

like eyes of a toddler devoid of innocence,

Even my shadow seems reluctant to stay.

I neither see the moon nor a firefly

On the untrodden byway.

The dawn looked stubborn,

Unwilling to show up.

Like a starving baby heron

waiting for its mother's return

I sit there

With an overflowing void.
