The Stardust That Never Left
By Tsegyal Gyamtso Dadul
I know a boy who saw the prettiest star.
Its voice a mellifluous glow.
So captivating to his being-
To his very soul.
He knew what he wanted-
The want to keep, to make it, his.
So not to lose it, he never shut his eyes,
Always behind it-
Did not let it leave his sight.
Oh but the star, it was only being polite
Always was a free spirit.
It was never his to keep.
It was time for the star to leave
For it had reached its limit;
The kindness that it had shown-
He had been mistaken; for he was possessed.
It twinkled, as the light slowly faded,
One last glance was all he could get.
Sorrow filled his entirety, it was gone.
Like it were never there- only a memory –
Now; a man, poised, strong-
The saga of events, a fond history.
Once again it appeared before him,
This time he only wanted to savor it's beauty.
The star, it seemed prettier-
She was where she wanted to be; free.
And in itself lies the beauty.
