Looking out my window

By Naily Manodara

Bam!

I hear the glass shatter

Clatter!

I hear the cutlery dance

Sizzle!

I hear the meat on the fire

Chatter!

I hear the people talk

The house was in dismay as the chaos raged

The tea all spilled, leaving lasting stains

The gentry, the ladies, the foe, and the friend

All a blurred picture painted with haste

The wind was a music so careless, so free

The trees were magnificent dancers, so graceful, so neat

The moonlight was a spotlight, so gentle and shimmering

The damp soil, the final stage set for this spectacular scene

Through the small window, I watched the spectacle unravel

Hidden behind the heavy curtains, bleeding in red

The rain trickled in haste to trap spectators in this gilded cage

But ah! Their blinded minds saw no beauty in their fragile state

The stage is so wild, so spirited, and free

Oh, how I longed to dance among those trees

To break this gilded cage, I dare

But this small world has me ensnared

Dear rain, trees, wind, and earth

Hear my cries and feel my tears

As the sun breaks dawn and clears

Let me rise from the ashes and fly

As far as these broken wings can carry

I shall surely be freer.
