The Singing Tower; #630

By Rebekah Booth

i don’t think the main focus was supposed to be the tower. it looks as though the taker was on a walk, maybe alone, maybe with friends—maybe someone took the lead and someone else went “hey, check that out!” and the taker took the photo. you can tell because they are very far from the tower and it is only half in the picture; the rest is hidden by river trees and palms reflected perfectly into still black water. it feels like texas, san antonio specifically, right in the areas of waterparks and tourist attractions, because the sky reminds me of last june: featureless, dry, hot as all get-out, and filled with the screams of cicadas. but, it probably isn’t texas. we don’t often have landmarks this pretty that aren’t part of churches. i wonder why it sings.

I wish we had beautiful landmarks in Texas. But alas, it's not meant to be.
