The Silent Encounters
By Gurkirat Singh Aulakh
Amidst the periods intervening the college rush They would happen to cross in the Corridor, The silent gaze and the blush ; outside the classroom door And in the moments of heat Many hearts had skipped a beat With a twinkle Flew the 20 years ; akin to Rip Van Winkle The lass was now an aunt , the lad know as uncle Hiding a white somewhere , smiling off the forehead crinkle
Their hearts still galloped , though the gaze kept them at bay So many stories to share …& lo nothing to utter or say !! The eyes greeted with a liking , there was an affection in the glance The throats cleared for the gossip , she maintained the fabulous stance . He stroked his moustache , rubbing the nose as he adjusted the hat Her eyes drew the domain , as they exchanged the persona amidst the silent chat Hesitantly had they greeted each other with a Hi ! The eyes kept rolling ; there wasn’t a mutter , they didn’t know why ?? Amidst the inertia of words , the pathways of eyes were in for a try ! They kept on swallowing the words , till it was time to say goodbye !! The feet dragged as the duo bid farewell Till another rendezvous of galloping rhythms and silent stories to tell !!
