The Shamefaced Bra
By Chitra Chidambaram
the bra looked from above a mature shoulder,
its strap barely managing to peep through the blouse
it saw an intruder approaching.
today, the intruder ignored the bra and went for the frock,
all of seven years old
the little girl wearing it screamed in terror as she saw
manhood tear her innocence and bite it with the teeth of maturity.
the bra could only look from afar in horror
the bra strap hid under the blouse, shamefaced
the frock lay torn and bleeding.
the media cried foul saying the frock was at fault
the bra fought for the frock.
they were mere outfits tossed around
in the blame game by the goons of politics
in no time law shamed the victims and let loose the rapists.
the nakedness of a new born soon caught the rapist's fancy.
the bra and the frock wept, unable to meet
the innocent eyes of a blood-soaked nappy.
