The Sane Participant
By Ranjana Gorakhnath Tidke
Standing in the ground,
My head raised high,
I throw my arms above,
To reach the sky.
I don't grow hair,
Nor do I have feathers,
Nor scales on my body,
But I indicate the weather.
I have no fear,
May it be lion or deer,
I am not even bothered,
Of praise or peer.
I grow with pride,
I breathe day and night,
For me all are alike,
I don't take anyone's side.
I change colors,
Still the most humble,
I am a generous donor,
Without a grumble.
I am not wealthy,
Nor am I scholar,
But without me,
I know you will suffer.
I am here to contribute,
Nothing to complain,
I am always mute,
There's nothing I claim.
If you are wise,
Clever or intelligent,
You will realise,
Who is this participant.
