The Same Old Road

Walking down the same old road

With feeling more than familiar

Falling over and over in daylight broad

Always the journey similar

They say “Learn from experience

From the mistakes never made”

Yet all aware of the consequences

The path in front never fades

The outcome written on stone

Never changes despite the efforts

For what I know to happen is done

Always the denial that hurts

Seeing everyone while being invisible

Seeing them walk away as if dismissible

An ache too much to afford

That meets me at the end of the same old road
