The Room I Grew Up In.

The room I grew up in

felt grand as a kid

but as the time passed by,

the cracks got bigger,

the translucent glass got replaced

and the edges got chipped

The bed that once homed the four of us,

now rarely got slept in even by one.

The walls that once housed all of the jungle

in its showing cement,

now has been painted thrice over.

The corners that held laughter

in their shadows,

now are barren white.

The window that once let the light in,

now is layered with bricks.

The space that was once filled to the brim

with love, care and warmth,

now bled dry like a desert.

The room I grew up in;

that once cocooned each sin prejudice,

cured illness of the sick

and nurtured the young & the old,

now bore the bone breaking weight

of total abandonment.
