The Remains Still Remain

The eyes search for it.

Thoughts are layered with apprehensions.

The voice within is now frail and feeble.

The heart is still hoping

But is equally afraid of a repeat devastation.

Words seem to have lost meanings

Yet the sentences fight to formulate sense.

Everything is so cold and dry

The heart is grieving, yet it does not cry.

Why?

The bridges are burnt,

And all that is left is the filth of its ashes;

That takes flight in the cold air

As a proud remembrance

Of the ugly catastrophe.
